oh, I can understand getting into steven universe, I've watched almost every ep (peridot is best!) and people who act like cartoons are beneath them but get into SUPER trashy live action stuff I dont get at all (im an animation student, fyi). But my dash is filled with people acting like the show's 100% perf glorious best rep a lesbian could ask for. which gets weird when its... really not? I kinda wanna see what else rebecca sugar will make in the future tho, cus chances are it'll be a way better quality show, with a less annoying main protag.

speaking of 'trashy' live shows, i'm not sure if it's an unpopular lesbian opinion, but i started watching Drag Race and i loooove it. i thought i would hate it as being #problematic (and i do hate all the 'b-tch', 'sl-t' etc) but in the last couple of weeks i've watched like four seasons and i just want to bring all the sweet gay men into my large lesbian arms and protect them
i used to feel part of the community with gay men when i went to a youth drop in centre & had mostly lgbtq friends, but since, idk, university & feminist tumblr, i hadn't really felt like that. i think tumblr can really divide people on the basis of identities and i'd forgotten the similarities between the experiences of gay men and lesbians - seeing these guys talk about recognising they were gay, or how hard it was to come out, or the positive or negative reactions from family - especially stories about loved ones being supportive - honestly cry evertim

ash, I totally understand what you mean. Tumblr is a really hateful place, but all gay men I've met and talked to were gorgeous. And as you said, hearing different coming out stories brings everyone closer together. I wish people would calm down with "Identity is The Most Important" and just listen to other peoples' experiences.
I got another unpopular opinion. I always expect to get hate for it lol. I think short hair really isn't all that great. ...tbh short hair is higher maintenance than long hair. Long hair can be put in a bun or ponytail, short hair always needs to be styled or it looks like shit. I also don't like buzzcuts. Ugly, ugh.
More unpopular opinion(s): I hate how (esp. on Tumblr) everyone's like "cut your hair", "stop wearing bras", "stop reblogging pictures of skinny white conventionally attractive women", "do this, do that". Shut uuuup.

THAT SAID, it's not something i complain about publicly because i respect that it's been a part of gay culture forever, and i feel solidarity with gay men in general. my personal social life 100% revolves around lesbians these days, but i used to have a good amount of gay male friends and don't mind hanging out with them now.

yeah i agree about the 'exaggerated' stuff - especially when it's clearly meant to evoke specifically black women, ESPECIALLY when it's white/nonblack men doing it unpopular general societal opinion, i love drag kings' work

Long hair can be put in a bun or ponytail, short hair always needs to be styled or it looks like shit. agreed on the first point, i've definitely met/known misogynistic gay men but tbh i feel more immediate solidarity and closeness with gay men than i do with straight women. on the second point - i think which length/style of hair is more maintenance is really dependent on your hair type, like mine is just wavy enough to tangle super easily so when i had it long i had to wear it in braids because even ponytails would get matted and knotted so quickly, and i'd still have to redo the braids a few times a day because they already got messy. when it's short i can generally just finger comb it and spray it a couple times with hairspray and it's fine all day. and then i've known people with really thick straight long hair that they could leave down all day with no issues.

I kind of love it? Esp little Louisiana boy last season. Pauvre bête, he had a lot of growing up to do. I don't have a ton of lesbian friends here, most women here Id as queer or pan which, ya know, you do you, but it's not for me. Most of my LGBT friends are gay guys. There's something shared there that I've came me to appreciate, and I am so grateful for my friendships I have.

most of the women who're nonhet that I've met are bi/pan, which is all well and good, but I'd wish they'd stop like, showing me pics of guys and going "isnt he hot!!11!" or talkin abt sex with their boyfriends like I'd be able to relate or smth. :/ (also treating f/f like its some kind of fantasy scenario/a road to tragedy and not actually real and legitimate) its kinda why Im forumming here bcus its nice to just talk to some fellow gay ppl for once.

Gosh, this. I have some bi friends and one of them always seems to wait for an opportunity to tell me that she sleeps with men, or wants to sleep with them. Even mentioning of het intimacy grosses me out so I really don't need that. (Worst situation was when we were watching a film with an Unneccessary Het Scene and I said "But sure, us Gays are rubbing it in their faces" and she said "I want to rub that guy in my face ". Uuugh.)
